Position Description
The Accounting Manager will work under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and is part of the Finance Team at Kenora Chiefs Advisory.
Position Title: Finance Manager
Department: Administration-Finance
Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and successful probationary period
Term: Full time
Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Responsibilities
- Perform monthly adjustments and bank reconciliations in a timely manner
- Administer and monitor corporate credit card accounts
- Provide oversight of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes, and monitor aged AP & AR listings
- Provide oversight of Payroll function and monitor related internal controls
- Assist in the development and improvement of Finance policies and procedures along with the implementation of internal controls
- Ensure proper audit documentation and approvals for all transactions posted to the general ledger
- Preparation of various working papers for reporting and analysis
- Support program managers and directors with the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasts
- Reconciliation of funding agreements and completion of required reporting in an accurate and timely manner
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports for use by funders, management, and the Board of Directors
- Provide accounting expertise and guidance to members of the Finance team
- Maintain strict confidentiality
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred
- Diploma or degree in accounting, with at least three years of work experience
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software, Payworks payroll software, Microsoft Excel and Office
- Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), payroll management, budgetary planning, development and monitoring
- Understanding of government funding agreements and reporting requirements
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Thorough knowledge of non-profit accounting practices and procedures
- Understanding of Ojibway culture, a definite asset

- Valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Willing to travel when required
- Current satisfactory criminal reference check with vulnerable sector search
