Position Description

The Social Media Coordinator will work under the direction of the Senior Executive Assistant and Communications Lead and is part of the Communications Team at Kenora Chiefs Advisory

Position Title:           Social Media Coordinator            

Department:             Communications

Salary:                        Per Annum, after successful probationary period

Term:                         Full-time

Location:                   240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario            

Summary of Duties

  • Assist in developing and supporting the communications plan for the organization
  • The candidate should have a deep understanding of various social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. They should be up-to-date on the latest trends and best practices and be able to use social media analytics to measure the success of campaigns
  • Continuously monitor post engagement and analytics, to use to further improve the overall communications strategy
  • The candidate should be able to write compelling and engaging copy that resonates with the target audience. They should also be able to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • The candidate should be able to come up with innovative ideas for social media campaigns and have a good eye for design
  • The candidate should be able to manage multiple projects at once and be able to prioritize tasks effectively
  • The candidate should be able to use data to measure the effectiveness of social media campaigns and make informed decisions based on the data
  • The candidate should be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and be able to build relationships with external partners and influencers
  • Assist the Communications Assistant with any projects, content creation or development of materials for the organization
  • Maintain efficient file management and record keeping
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours
  • Other duties, as required

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in media, communications or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Experience working with social media platforms through a business lens
  • Experience working in First Nations
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of the Anishinaabe Culture and language are considered an asset

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Must be willing to travel when required
