Position Description
The Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Support Worker will develop and implement processes to improve utilization of the EMR records software. This position will provide staff from various KCA client-based programs with technical and educational support to maximize quality of clients’ records.

Department: Mental Health and Addictions
Salary: Per Annum, after successful probationary period
Term: Full time
Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario
Reports to: Manager – Data/Intake Support Services
Summary of Duties
- Solidify and implement EMR onboarding and offboarding processes
- Facilitate staff onboarding and complete staff offboarding
- Ensure new staff have access to workstation, scanner and printer for use when accessing EMR
- Maintain up to date list of EMR users, periodically monitor staff changes
- Create training tools and maintain record of training provided
- Provide and coordinate training of new and existing staff according to their roles and follow up on action items coming out of the training sessions
- Maintain EMR user manuals library and keep up to date
- Be aware of system issues and communicate those with staff effectively
- Support staff to resolve issues with EMR, coordinate between MIS and KCA Helpdesks
- Support IT department with tasks related to EMR, support deployment of changes in EMR
- Conduct periodic user surveys to identify issues, training needs, future enhancements, collect user feedback and input
- Facilitate EMR set up change as suggested/requested by KCA departments/teams
- Provide ongoing Privacy education to EMR users
- Complete regular staff activity/access audits for privacy purposes to monitor for inappropriate use of EMR
Qualifications
- Advanced computer skills and knowledge of the entire MS Office suite
- Ability to teach/train others at all levels of skills. Understanding of adult learning principles and training methodologies
- Positive and supportive interpersonal skills and attitude, ability to interact successfully with providers and staff
- Excellent organizational skills, adaptability to varying schedules, ability to work in a very fast-paced and changing work environment
- Work experience in First Nations communities/Health Organizations is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture, values, beliefs, and language is considered an asset
- Post-secondary degree or diploma or equivalent work experience (education, health care, information management or computer-related field)
