Position Description
Reporting to the Equine Farm Manager, the Equine Summer Student is responsible for helping with the proper care of the horses, horse tack and grounds on the Equine Farm. The person may also interact with the public and youth at risk.

Report to : Equine Farm Manager
Contract: May 5,2025 to August 22,2025
Salary: $ 19/hr (35 Hrs Week) +End of Summer Bonus ($ 1 /Hour Worked if the contract is successfully completed
Position Available: 1 Position
Duties and Responsibilities to be performed without direct supervision may include:
- Clean out horse stalls.
- Weeding and pasture maintenance
- Manure cleans up.
- Feeding and cleaning chickens, ducks, and rabbits enclosures
- Preparing saddles and equipment for horse sessions
- Minor maintenance of facilities and equipment
- Working outdoors in all weather conditions
Duties and Responsibilities to be performed under supervision may include:
- Catching, grooming, and preparing horses for horse sessions
- Walking next to clients on horses during horse sessions
- Equine Summer Students will be provided with the option to learn basic horsemanship skills if interested.
Position Requirements:
- In good physical and mental condition
- Able to follow instructions.
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Must be able to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision.
- Experience working in or with First Nations Communities is considered an asset.
- Understanding the Anishinaabemowen (Ojibway language) is an asset.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
- Must be willing to travel when required.
