Position Description:
We are seeking one (1) enthusiastic and organized Activity Specialist Supervisor to join the team at the Youth & Family Wellness Camp. This key leadership role plays an important role in supporting and guiding the Camp’s Activity Specialist, ensuring that children and youth experience safe, inclusive, and culturally grounded programming throughout the summer.

Report To: Program Manager, Youth & Family Wellness Camp
Contract: May 4, 2026 – August 28, 2026
Hourly Rate: $24.00/Hour (40 per week) + Bonus; $1.00 for every hour worked if contract is completed

Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a Role Model of Inspiration:
- Arrive punctually each day, ready to set the standard for behavior and engagement.
- Fully engage in staff training sessions
- Wear the staff uniform, embodying the essence of camp professionalism.
- Model engaging and well-planned activities that inspire campers and staff alike.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in YES Program training workshops and onboarding.
- Attend regular check-ins and professional development sessions.
- Complete all job-specific training and demonstrate confidence in assigned cleaning tasks.
- Assist with the design and delivery of staff training, including orientation for summer staff
- Provide mentorship and professional development throughout the summer, focusing on teaching skills, communication, and cultural awareness.
Leadership & Supervision:
- Provide day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support to all Activity Specialists.
- Conduct daily check-ins and weekly team meetings to review program goals, logistics, and feedback.
- Support staff in creating engaging, inclusive, and culturally connected programming.
- Supporting the transportation of campers to and from programming locations on site.
- Observe and provide constructive feedback to help staff grow in confidence and skill.
- Fostering positive, collaborative work environment that reflects the Sacred Teachings & the organization’s mission & values.
- Maintain clear and professional communication with parents and guardians to share updates, address concerns, and ensure consistent support for each camper’s needs.
Program Planning & Coordination:
- Oversee and support the planning, coordination, and scheduling of all activity areas, ensuring balance and variety across arts, sports, cultural, water and leadership activities.
- Review weekly plans from each Activity Specialist for quality, safety, and alignment with camp values.
- Support program set-up and clean-up, ensuring spaces and materials are properly maintained.
- Collaborate with the Camp Program Manager to ensure programming integrates land-based, water, recreational, and cultural components.
Safety & Risk Management:
- Ensure all activities meet safety protocols and are delivered in a manner that prioritizes camper well-being.
- Conduct daily inspections of activity spaces (waterfront, sports areas, arts space, cultural lodge) and report any concerns immediately.
- Support staff in managing camper behaviors respectfully and consistently, following camp policies and procedures.
- Document and report incidents in accordance with camp safety policies.
Program Quality & Evaluation:
- Monitor and evaluate activity sessions to ensure high-quality, inclusive, and engaging experiences for campers.
- Track participation, gather feedback from campers and staff, and contribute to program evaluation reports.
- Maintain open communication with the Camp Supervisor and Director to identify successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
Cultural Integration:
- Support Activity Specialists in embedding cultural teachings, language, and values throughout programming.
- Collaborate with the Cultural Lead to ensure traditional knowledge and land-based practices are incorporated meaningfully and respectfully.
- Promote an environment where campers feel safe to learn, share, and explore their identity.
Camp Site and Equipment Maintenance:
- Conduct regular inventory assessments and communicate supply needs promptly.
- Maintain camp spaces and equipment during program hours, ensuring a clean and functional environment.
- Report any site issues or equipment malfunctions promptly for swift resolution.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Willingness to adapt working hours based on needs of program
- Be flexible and adaptable, ready to support camp operations in any capacity required.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a camp environment or similar setting.
- Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in an Indigenous community or organization considered an asset.
- Ability to plan, organize, and lead a variety of engaging activities for children of different ages.
- Strong communication & interpersonal skills to interact effectively with campers, parents, and other staff.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and ability to respond to emergency situations.
- Physical fitness and ability to participate in camp activities alongside campers.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changes in schedule, program, or weather conditions.
- Creativity and willingness to bring new ideas and approaches to the camp program.
- Must be willing to travel when required.
- First Aid qualifications (minimum of Emergency First Aid) is an asset or must be willing to obtain
- High Five Certification is an asset.
Education and/or Experience:
- College diploma or equivalent community work experience in the following areas:
- Community Services (Child and Youth Worker, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Worker, Early Childhood Educator); Aboriginal Studies, Studies in Traditional Teaching
- Experience in youth programming, camp supervision, or recreation leadership.
- Experience working with Indigenous youth an asset.
- Ability to manage multiple staff simultaneously and adapt to dynamic camp environments.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle;
- Must be willing to travel when required;
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.

- Enrolled in Post Secondary – Asset
