Position Description
The Health Promotion Support Worker is part of the Health Promotion team at Kenora Chiefs Advisory.
This position will provide research, awareness and support to our Health Promotion team and member communities in the areas of health and wellness. The Health Promotion Support Worker will work with the Health Promotion team and community members by providing them support in health and wellness initiatives.

Hourly Rate: $19.00 per Hour (40hrs per week) + Bonus, $1.00 for every hour worked
if contract is successfully completed

Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a Role Model of Inspiration:
- Arrive punctually each day, ready to set the standard for behavior and engagement.
- Fully engage in staff training sessions.
- Wear the staff uniform (if provide), embodying the essence of camp professionalism.
- Model engaging and well-planned activities that inspire campers and staff alike.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in YES Program training workshops and onboarding.
- Attend regular check-ins and professional development sessions.
- Complete all job-specific training and demonstrate confidence in assigned cleaning tasks.
- Assist with the design and delivery of staff training, including orientation for summer staff
- Provide mentorship and professional development throughout the summer, focusing on teaching skills, communication, and cultural awareness.
Health Promotion Responsibilities
- Support Health Promotion team members in coordination, preparation of activities and events
- Coordinate with team members, community partners to schedule and promote community wellness activities
- Provide information on health & wellness such as mental wellness, nutrition, physical activity
- Review existing visual presentations and provide feedback
- Create and conduct visual presentations to promote health and wellness
- Attend and assist with health and wellness events hosted by KCA and communities
- Coordinate the development of promotional education and awareness resources
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Willingness to adapt working hours based on needs of program
- Be flexible and adaptable, ready to support program operations in any capacity required.
Qualifications:
- Highly motivated with well developed organizational skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a health team
- Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, problem solving and leadership skills
Education and/or Experience:
- Must have completed Grade 12 or GED
- Post Secondary Education/experience in related field
- Work experience in First Nations Programs and/or health field
- Knowledgeable and proficient with facilitation and group dynamics
- Possess excellent communication and presentation skills
- Understanding of the Ojibway customs and traditions
- Ability to speak Ojibway would be an asset
- Current understanding of wholistic wellness and health promotion
Position Requirements:
- First Aid qualifications (minimum of Emergency First Aid) is an asset or must be willing to obtain certificate prior to commencement of work assignment.
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle
- Willing to travel when required
- Understanding of the Ojibway language is an asset

- Between the ages of 15 to 24
- Be available for the whole summer
- Identity as Indigenous – Asset: Treaty 3
- Enrolled in Post Secondary – Asset
