Position Description

The Quality Assurance Manager will be responsible for overseeing all Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Assurance and Accreditation processes for KCA. The Quality Assurance Manager shall ensure that KCA’s Policies and Procedures are in line with legislative requirements the standards set out by Accreditation Canada. The Quality Assurance Manager will be part of the KCA management team and will provide support to the Executive Director.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee all function of the KCA’s Health and Safety Committee
  • Ensure that regular inspections are being completed and follow up on any identified hazards and incident reports is done in a timely manner
  • Develop and implement strategies to ensure that interested staff members have opportunities to participate in Health and Safety and access certification training when necessary
  • Ensure that all KCA employees receive regular training on Occupational Health and Safety related issues, such as workplace violence and harassment, Ontario Human Rights Legislation and WHIMIS
  • Communicate with Accreditation Canada and ensure that all deadlines are met
  • Organize Accreditation Surveys and work with Accreditation Canada on any follow up actions required
  • Continually update Quality Assurance framework and guide management team through implementation in line with standards and requirements set out by Accreditation Canada
  • Provide training on Quality Assurance to management team
  • Ensure that all new KCA programs incorporate Quality Assurance framework and Accreditation requirements into their mandates
  • Ensure that all KCA programs operate in compliance with best practices as set out by relevant professional bodies (e.g. Ontario College of Social Workers)
  • Develop tools for measurement and evaluation Quality Assurance indicators and framework, respectively
  • Provide regular Accreditation and Quality Assurance briefings to Executive Director
  • Develop policies and procedures and continually monitor legislation to ensure that current policies and procedures are in line with legislative requirements
  • Additional duties as required

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of PIPEDA and PHIPPA
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Experience in program development and implementation
  • Experience in developing policies and procedures
  • Experience with Occupational Health and Safety and knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and demonstrable understanding of cultural safety requirements

 Education and/or experience

  • Must possess a degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
  • Must have current Joint Health and Safety Committee Certification
  • Demonstrable understanding of legislation relevant to organizational practice
  • Experience in management considered an asset

Position Requirements

  • Applicants should possess a valid driver’s license, have a vehicle and be willing to travel when required
  • Understanding and speaking of the Ojibway language is an asset
  • Must be able to pass a Criminal record check
