Position Description:
We are seeking one (1) Summer Student to work within the Kenora Chiefs Advisory’s Finance Team. Under the direction of the Manger of Finance and serving the First Nations of the Treaty 3 area, this position includes administering all aspects of accounting/finance as required.
Position Title: Finance Support – Summer Student
Department: Finance
Term: Contract – June 22, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (35hrs/week)
Salary: $18.00/Hours
Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario
Reports to: Manager of Finance
Duties and Responsibilities:
Be a Role Model of Inspiration:
- Arrive punctually each day, ready to set the standard for behavior and engagement.
- Fully engage in staff training sessions.
- Wear the staff uniform (if provided), embodying the essence of professionalism.
Training & Professional Development
- Participate in YES Program training workshops and onboarding.
- Attend regular check-ins and professional development sessions.
- Complete all job-specific training and demonstrate confidence in assigned cleaning tasks.
- Assist with the design and delivery of staff training, including orientation for summer staff
- Provide mentorship and professional development throughout the summer, focusing on teaching skills, communication, and cultural awareness.
- Model professionalism, positivity, and respect in all interactions with staff, community members and campers.
Accounting:
- Accurately input vendor invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely processing.
- Reconcile and record corporate credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy and supporting documentation.
- Reconcile vendor and supplier accounts, addressing discrepancies promptly.
- Process employee travel and expense claims, confirming all required documentation and approvals are included.
- Ensure all payments have proper audit documentation, coding, and internal approvals.
- Create, prepare, and maintain spreadsheets for financial reporting, tracking, and analysis.
- Maintain strict confidentiality when handling financial records and sensitive information.
- Uphold organized and up-to-date records for all financial transactions.
Other Duties as Assigned:
- Be flexible and adaptable, ready to support camp operations in any capacity required.

- Ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Excellent computer skills, organizational skills and networking skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Time-management and organizational skills
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license and vehicle;
- Must be willing to travel when required;
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.
Criteria
- Between the ages of 15 to 24
- Be available for the whole summer
- Identity as Indigenous – Asset: Treaty 3
- Enrolled in Post Secondary – Asset
