Position Description:

We are seeking one (1) Summer Student to join the Kenora Chiefs Advisory’s Information Technology (IT) Team. Under the direction of the IT Manager, this position will support technology operations across KCA departments and assist in improving digital systems, troubleshooting hardware/software, and ensuring smooth technical operations throughout the summer.

Term: Contract    – June 22, 2026 – August 21, 2026 (40hrs/week)        
Salary: $18.00/Hours

Location: 240 Veterans Drive, 3rd Floor, Kenora, Ontario

Reports to: Manager of Finance     

Duties and Responsibilities:

Be a Role Model of Inspiration:

  • Arrive punctually each day, ready to set the standard for behavior and engagement.
  • Fully engage in staff training sessions.
  • Wear the staff uniform (if provided), embodying the essence of professionalism.

Training & Professional Development 

  • Participate in YES Program training workshops and onboarding. 
  • Attend regular check-ins and professional development sessions. 
  • Complete all job-specific training and demonstrate confidence in assigned cleaning tasks. 
  • Assist with the design and delivery of staff training, including orientation for summer staff 
  • Provide mentorship and professional development throughout the summer, focusing on teaching skills, communication, and cultural awareness. 
  • Model professionalism, positivity, and respect in all interactions with staff, community members and campers. 

IT Support Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support to staff, including basic troubleshooting of computers, printers, mobile devices, and office equipment.
  • Assist with setting up new workstations, configuring user accounts, and updating software as directed by the IT Manager.
  • Support staff with password resets, email issues, network access, and Microsoft 365 tools (Teams, Outlook, OneDrive).
  • Help maintain and organize IT equipment inventory, ensuring devices are logged, labeled, and tracked.
  • Assist in installing hardware, running updates, and ensuring systems are working efficiently.
  • Support basic network troubleshooting (Wi-Fi connections, device connectivity, resetting equipment).
  • Document support requests and solutions to help improve IT processes and knowledge sharing.
  • Uphold confidentiality and data security while handling user accounts, files, and system information.
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date records of IT equipment, service logs, and support activities.

Other Duties as Assigned:

  • Willingness to adapt working hours based on needs of program 
  • Be flexible and adaptable, ready to support operations in any capacity required.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Excellent computer skills, organizational skills and networking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Time-management and organizational skills

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle;
  • Must be willing to travel when required;
  • Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search.

Criteria

  • Between the ages of 15 to 24
  • Be available for the whole summer
  • Identity as Indigenous – Asset: Treaty 3
  • Enrolled in Post Secondary – Asset
