Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Junior Community Mentor (CM) to support the design, delivery, and evaluation of our community’s local PLAY program. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in community engagement, program planning, and youth mentorship.
Position Title: Junior Community Mentor – Summer Program
Duration: June – August (9-10 weeks), 35 hours per week
Salary: $20 per hour
Eligibility: Open to individuals aged 15-29 years old who are First Nation or Inuit
Reports to: Sports and Recreation Manager
Key Responsibilities
Program Support:
- Assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of the local PLAY program within the community.
Training:
- Participate in two virtual training sessions specifically designed for Junior CMs.
Learning and Development:
- Develop a comprehensive learning plan outlining your employment interests, learning style, and development goals.
- Submit learning plans to your Program Officer (P.O.) following the provided guidelines.
Youth-Led Initiative:
- Lead the planning and implementation of a Youth-Led Initiative in your community, fostering youth engagement and leadership.
Feedback and Improvement:
- Provide formal feedback on your training and work experience to Right To Play (RTP).
- Contribute insights to help revise and improve the project for future iterations.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in community engagement and youth development.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Creative and proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Must not have been a Junior Community Mentor in past years with this program.
- Commitment to the full duration of the program (June – August).
