On August 27, 2022, Youth from Shoal Lake 40 First Nation experienced the opportunity of a lifetime.
Shoal Lake 40 was awarded a trip to Toronto to see a Blue Jays game, as the prize for earning top points during the 2020 KCA Rookie League season.
The Jays Care Foundation hosted our 21 youth and chaperones in the Community Clubhouse for the Blue Jays vs Angels game.
Kenora Chiefs Advisory Indigenous Rookie League teams work hard each baseball season to earn top points for the reward of seeing a Blue Jays game in Toronto. The point system is based on community and family involvement at practices and games, encouraging community unity and support for our youth; rather than winning games.
