Ogimaawabiitong (Kenora Chiefs Advisory) would like to recognize and honour our 5 Youth Council members for helping to advocate for our youth and communities and represent the region in Toronto.

5 of KCA’s Youth Council members attended the Chiefs of Ontario First Nations Community Wellness Conference in Toronto this month, joining members from other Youth Councils across Ontario to learn and discuss how we can improve community wellness in First Nation communities.

Our YC representatives included: Sydney Flett of Wauzhushk Onigum Nation, Rachel Cameron of Niisaachewan Anishinaabe Nation, Shy Loon and Lexx Paul of Asubpeeschoseewagong First Nation, and Carter Carpenter of Wabaseemoong Independent Nations.

Carter Carpenter was also a panellist at the conference as part of the Ontario First Nation Young Peoples Council – and extended the invite to the conference to other members of KCA’s Youth Council, with sponsorship from Ogimaawabiitong.

KCA sends a huge Miigwetch to the Chiefs of Ontario for including our members in such a significant gathering, and to Carter Carpenter for thinking and supporting their fellow members.

Ogimaawabiitong is proud of our Youth Council members for helping represent our communities, our region, and our youth. We will continue to support them as strong advocates and role models for our communities!
